Today we have a very brief summary of the history of God’s people told through the Old Testament. It is helpful to imagine the state of mind of the Israelites when Jesus appeared on the scene. They had lived through thousands of years of tumultuous history. God blessed them when they were good and God punished them when they were bad. They had been promised a Messiah that would bring a peace to last forever. But not everyone understood what that meant. We have been trying to discern what God meant for the past two thousand years–and we don’t always agree! Enjoy the story and see if your child/children can relate :).
