This year, St. Simon’s Outreach Committee will be collecting food to assist St. Matthew’s House in Hamilton.
St. Matthew’s House food banks have provided emergency food to over 30,000 people each year. They spend almost $4,000 every 2 weeks to keep the bare minimum on their shelves.
Let’s try to help stock those shelves over Easter to help feed hungry children and families.
Items desperately needed are:
Canned goods, peanut butter, beans, pasta and sauce, coffee, tea, baby food, cereal, formula, diapers and personal hygiene products.
EASTER CHOCOLATE DRIVE
This year we will be providing Easter chocolates to 70 low income people, mostly
singles between 20 and 50 years old, who live in an apartment building at Churchill and North Service Road just west of Oakville Place.
Our partner agency, the Oak Park Neighbourhood Centre, runs a weekly food distribution program there. So, the Outreach Committee agreed it would be a nice surprise for them to get some Easter chocolates in addition to their food before Easter.
If you would like to donate some Easter chocolates for this project, we will be collecting items until April 17th.
You can drop them into a marked box in the Narthex, or during the week they can be dropped off with Dena during office hours. Contact Bronwen with questions at email@example.com, or text or call 905-334-2580
Thank you in advance for your Easter chocolate donations. The same participants of this weekly food bank were thrilled to receive a dozen Christmas
cookies from us before Christmas !!!
